You may be able to categorize your pictures in separate folders, but there is nothing else you can do with standard Windows tools, especially when it comes to managing your photos. The best solution is to use a specialized file manager and BonAView will definitely meet your demands. It is designed specifically for images, which you can organize in a very comfortable manner, due to the software's sleek interface and easy to use functions.

The software is developed by High Motion Software, who also created an excellent batch image editor, called ImBatch. Unlike its counterpart, BonAView is not free, but its trial version is fully functional, so you can use all its features, until it expires. There are no special requirements to meet, so you can download the software and install it on your computer, in a few moments.

The user interface has a familiar layout, which makes it easy to locate and organize your photos. You can browse through your folders and their contents, just like on a standard explorer window. Files are filtered automatically, to show nothing but images. Folders and pictures are displayed as 3D thumbnails, in the central region of the window. You can use a series of options, located in the same area, to rotate or flip a selected image.

If you lack the patience to browse through the 3D thumbnails, you can select the picture you are looking for, on the lower part of the interface, where you can switch between different view modes, like icons, lists and so on. The navigation pane is located on the left side of the window and you can replace it, at any time, with a categories manager or a flexible search function. You can also bring up different panels, on the right side, to view and edit a file's EXIF and IPTC information, rate your pictures, apply various filters and more.

BonAView comes with a built-in image processor as well. You can use it for basic editing tasks, like adjusting a picture's colors and levels, cropping, adding frames or applying and adjusting a few effects. A second editor can be used to insert annotations, like shapes, lines or text, measure distances and angles and more.

Pros

The software provides a modern and easy to understand interface, with a neat 3D image preview. You can add your pictures to any categories, rate them and use this information to filter them. It is also possible to search for specific images, using various parameters. BonAView includes a series of editing features as well, which can be used for basic processing tasks.

Cons

The software is free only for a limited period of time. With its smart design and flexible features, BonAView will change the way you explore and organize your photos.
